CHAMBER HOSTS CONGRESSMAN MICA

(Sanford, FL) The Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce will host Congressman John Mica (FL-07) as its speaker at its Wednesday, August 12, 2015 Business Connections meeting. Business Connections is the largest weekly Chamber meeting in Central Florida and provides an opportunity for members of the business community to network while working to complete the business of the Chamber.

The meeting begins with networking at 7:30 AM and is held at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, 3755 US-17, Sanford. The program will begin between 8:00 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. The zoo has hosted this growing Chamber event for several years and the Chamber welcomes non-member businesses and the community to attend. Please call the Chamber at 407-322-2212 to reserve a seat.

According to Chamber executive Frank Hale, “the Chamber is pleased to welcome Congressman Mica as he addresses our members and issues of importance to the business community. Congressman Mica has long been an important voice for business and communities in Central Florida and we appreciate his leadership. We encourage our members and interested community residents to attend this meeting to hear from and talk to their Congressman.”

A representative from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will also attend the meeting to award Congressman Mica with its annual Spirit of Enterprise Award. The award recognizes Congressional efforts to promote pro-jobs and pro-growth policies during 2014, the second session of the 113th Congress.

According to the U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue, the U.S. Chamber has “been recognizing legislators from both sides of the aisle who have worked to pass legislation and enact policies that bolster our country's economy, create jobs and keep our nation's spirit of enterprise alive." The Spirit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation outlined in the Chamber publication, How They Voted. Congressional members who supported the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of those votes qualify to receive the award.

According to the 2014 scorecard, John Mica received a 86% rating and has a cumulative rating of 92% during his tenure in Congress.
